Jake Lyons
Jake Lyons is a percussion instructor, performer, arranger, adjudicator, and administrator based in Tennessee. He currently performs in the award-winning percussion quartet, Apex Percussion, producing works and films both live all over the world and on YouTube. Jake was the founder/CEO Virtual Arts, Inc., the organization responsible for Virtual Drum & Bugle Corps during the pandemic, and served as the Director/CEO with Percussion Independent World Group, Equinox Percussion for 6 years. He also served as the drumline coordinator for the Super Bowl LIII Halftime show with Maroon 5, proudly playing on Pearl Drums for nearly one hundred million viewers.
Jake has been heavily involved in WGI since 2009, performing/teaching with several independent world class ensembles including: Palmetto Percussion, Odyssey Percussion Theatre, Terminus Atlanta Percussion, and Music City Mystique. He was also a percussionist for the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps in 2012 & 2013, and was on the instructional staff for Spirit of Atlanta, the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps, the Mandarins for several years, and now serves as a percussion instructor for the Bluecoats.
Jake is an alumnus and four-year instructor/arranger for the University of Georgia Redcoat marching band, and currently works as a professional fundraiser for nonprofits nationally. Jake proudly endorses Innovative Percussion drumsticks and mallets and Pearl/Adams instruments.
Jake also enjoys competitive long-distance running and weightlifting, and lives in Chattanooga, TN with his dog Walter.
